Nosebleed (Epistaxis)

  1. Sit up and lean slightly forward (do not lean back).
  2. Pinch the soft part of the nose just above the nostrils for 10-15 minutes.
  3. Breathe through the mouth.
  4. Seek medical help if bleeding does not stop after 20 minutes.

Minor Cut/Scrape

  1. Wash the wound with clean water and soap.
  2. Apply gentle pressure with a clean cloth to stop bleeding.
  3. Apply antiseptic cream.
  4. Cover with a sterile bandage.

Minor Burn (First or Second-Degree)

  1. Cool the burn under cool (not cold or ice) running water for 10-20 minutes
  2. Do not apply ice, butter, or powder
  3. Cover with a clean, non-stick dressing or cloth
  4. Seek medical help if the burn is large, on the face/joints, or blisters quickly

Snake Bite

  1. Keep calm
  2. Do not move
  3. Call emergency services immediately
  4. Immobilize the bitten area below the heart level

Sprain or Strain (R.I.C.E. Principle)

  1. Rest the injured area
  2. Ice the area for 15-20 minutes every 2-3 hours
  3. Compress the area with a bandage (do not wrap too tightly)
  4. Elevate the injured limb above the heart level

Choking (Conscious Adult/Child)

  1. Encourage the person to cough
  2. Perform 5 back blows between the shoulder blades
  3. Perform 5 abdominal thrusts (Heimlich Maneuver)
  4. Alternate between 5 back blows and 5 abdominal thrusts until the object is expelled

Minor Foreign Object in Eye

  1. Do not rub the eye
  2. Flush the eye with clean water or saline solution
  3. If the object is still there, cover the eye lightly and seek medical help
  4. Never attempt to remove an embedded object

Fainting (Syncope)

  1. Lay the person down on their back and elevate their feet about 12 inches
  2. Loosen tight clothing (like belts or collars)
  3. Ensure the person has fresh air
  4. If they are responsive, give them water to sip
